Beads have an elegant shiny metallic finish. Slight variations in color and finish are to be expected. No two beads are the same. It is part of their charm!

Care must be taken in the daily use of coated beads. Please expect some minor variations in color and thickness of mercury finish amongst beads. Some minor flaking of coating is also to be expected with this special finish.

*** Mercury finished beads are sometimes referred to as silver washed or Farmers' Silver. They are non-toxic and do not actually contain mercury. These beads are named after a process of glass blowing first introduced in the 1800s that resulted in producing glass with a silvery mirror like finish. The process used today is nothing like the vintage mercury glass technique. It is a finish coating placed on the bead during the production process which creates a very similar resemblance to the original 1800s vintage look!***
