*** Mercury finished beads are sometimes referred to as silver washed or Farmers' Silver. They are non-toxic and do not actually contain mercury. These beads are named after a process of glass blowing first introduced in the 1800s that resulted in producing glass with a silvery mirror like finish. The process used today is nothing like the vintage mercury glass technique. It is a finish coating placed on the bead during the production process which creates a very similar resemblance to the original 1800s vintage look!***
