These beads are made of a transparent glass with a special shimmer coating. The appearance of the color will change when different background colors are used. If you are using this particular bead in a dimly lit room or on dark color (such as brown or black) it will appear very dark red/silver/gray. If you are using it against a neutral colors it will be a medium red that sparkles in places as the sun catches it.
Also note, this bead is garnet which is known for its deep dark red appearance. If you need a brighter more primary red color, siam red beads are recommended.
